We stopped at a tour for the Mumm Champagne tour. Truthfully I was not impressed. They took us down to the cellars where the bubbly is stored and a tour of OLD EQUIPMENT that was used before they switched to stainless steel tanks.
The only thing that impressed me was the way they get rid of the sediment in the bottles it is called degorgement in French a technique of freezing the neck of the bottle upside down. When when I asked if this was a MUMM invention she didn’t answer. Later I found out that it was invented by Madame Clicquot of the Veuve Cliquot champagne house. It really streamlined the whole champagne making business.
Ken took us to a house in Reims and held up the picture below.
Hitler is standing in front of the house and this is what the house looks like today. The owners never changed the front of the house and when the people bought the house they were never told that Hitler had stayed in that house.
In Reims we stopped at Notre Dame Church. It was the Cathedral where all the Kings of France were coronated. Lovely Gothic Cathedral with the Smiling Angel at the front door.
Here Joan of Arc promised to attend the coronation of Charles the seventh if she succeeded in her suit of armor and she did. It’s hard to believe that I walked on the same floor that Joan of Arc walked. I think that’s absolutely amazing.
